namarat  Namrata Kala

Namrata Kala completed her MA in International and Development Economics from Yale University in 2007. She holds a BA (honors) in Economics from Delhi University, and has spent a year working in rural development in India. After her masters, she worked as a research assistant with the Yale Center for Environmental Law and Policy, and as an environmental analyst with Juice-Energy, New York. She will begin work for The Energy and Resources Institute in New Delhi as a Research Associate in July 2008, working in climate change and development. She is excited about spending more time in Delhi and relieved at postponing the decision to go back to university. Her academic interests include climate change policy and sustainable development.

Namrata will be coordinating the development of a “climate change primer” course with other Institute interns. She will also work to accredit the Institute with the UNFCCC, and to develop the Institute’s relationship with carbon market firms.

  Visrin Vichit-Vadakan

Visrin Vichit-Vadakan is starting her senior year at the Stanford University, majoring in Earth Systems with a concentration in Energy and Technology, an interdisciplinary program in environmental science. Visrin has worked as an assistant analyst with Thailand’s Ministry of Energy and as a researcher on the human impact on marine ecology along the Line Islands for Stanford and Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute. Her passion for environmental improvement has been with her since childhood, growing up in Thailand and observing the detrimental effect of coal-fired power plants on neighboring residents.

Visrin will be establishing contacts for the Institute with potential partners in the developing world, particularly in Thailand. She will also work on a survey of climate change professionals in order to better understand training needs in greenhouse gas accounting.

  Maurine Winkley

Maurine Winkley has lived in the Monterey Bay area for the past seven years, but hails from Austin, Texas. Her undergraduate degree is from UC-Santa Cruz in Global Economics and she is currently pursuing her MBA at the Monterey Institute of International Studies in Monterey, California. Maurine’s concentration within her degree is international finance and her professional focus is environmental finance. She is excited to work with an organization she feels set high standards for professional wanting education and certification in increasingly important field of GHG accounting.

Maurine will be working on developing budgets for funding proposals and on developing overall financial forecasts for the Institute. Maurine will also assist with the development of the Institute’s membership framework.

  Jef Gluckstein

Jef Gluckstein is a third year student at Olin College of Engineering studying for a degree in Engineering with a concentration in materials science. Though he has little experience in greenhouse gas accounting, Jef applied for an internship with the Greenhouse Gas Management Institute because it would allow him to learn about the field and get a firsthand look at the growth of a not-for-profit start up.

For the summer, Jef will be responsible for coordinating contact with the university partners. He will also assist with the development of course materials for both existing and new courses.
