List of frequently asked questions regarding learning method, training, instructors and other Institute-related concerns.

Our courses are designed to equip you with the knowledge and skills to help you develop the role you are aiming at in this evolving field. Our core overview courses are designed for everyone – from managers who want to have the big picture to engineers who want to delve into the technical details. We highly recommend our core courses as the foundation for your learning path. Course descriptions are provided within the Training Programs pages.

In the near future, we will offer more structured programs for specific roles as well as a combination of courses aimed at those who want the full spectrum of knowledge and perspective. Courses aimed at professionals who wish to hone their practice are under development.

Our instructors are internationally renowned experts in the field coordinated by our Dean, Michael Gillenwater. During this initial phase, all courses are instructed by the experts who helped develop the courses as well as by Michael Gillenwater. The experts themselves will field discussions and questions.

The Learning Management System (LMS), where we host the courses, have features such as discussion forum or message boards where you can raise question and reply to questions raised by the instructor and/or other participants. This feature however is not real-time or synchronous so you may experience a time delay in your instructor or co-participant’s response based on their access to the discussion forum and decision to reply.

A chat session is enabled in each class, however it is in the discretion of the instructor if he/she will schedule a live chat session. A learner can schedule a chat session with his/her co-learners upon agreement of both parties.

If you’re using broadband connection, you shouldn’t have any problems accessing the course material. There are no requirements for a high speed connection, but a minimum of 768.0 Kbps download speed is recommended.

All courses offered by the GHG Management Institute are deployed on the web. The GHG Management Institute utilizes an online e-learning format to keep costs down and enable us to have a global reach as large as the internet itself. E-learning allows you to take a course according to your personal schedule, without traveling and as your personal schedule permits.

There is no need to be online at the same time as your co-learners or instructor. The instructor will lead the class, posting comments on the discussion forum and answering questions posted to the discussion forum within 24 hours.

You will also have a Training Assistant or Beadle to guide you on substantial or course-related concerns and technical matters. The beadle will reply to your query within 24 hours as well.

On occassion where a live chat session is scheduled by the instructor or your co-learner, you would then have the option to login at a certain time to interact with your instructor or fellow learner.

All courses offered by the GHG Management Institute are deployed on the web. All classes are one month in duration, with the materials available for review for 11 months after course completion. Classes begin on the first day of each calendar month.

During the one month period of a class, a live Instructor will lead the class, posting comments on the discussion forum and answering questions posted to the discussion forum within 24 hours. There is no need to be online at the same time as your classmates or instructor.

You will also have a Training Assistant or Beadle to guide you on substantial or course-related concerns and technical matters. All online classes are self-paced and classes are accessible 24 hours/day. We do have a suggested Study Pace for participants and your Training Assistant will send you reminders. All of the question and answer (Q&A), and discussions take place via email and are posted in discussion forums online. The course is available to you for 12 months. 1 month with assistance from the online instructor and beadle, and 11 months without.
