Earthscan and the Greenhouse Gas Management Institute (GHGMI) announce the launch of the Greenhouse Gas Measurement and Management journal.
Greenhouse Gas Measurement & Management will be a multidisciplinary peer-reviewed journal, with an international Editorial Board. The journal will bring together information on the application of methods and techniques to estimate, measure, account, review and audit greenhouse gas emissions and removals, with experiences on the management and control of greenhouse gases at all levels.
“Fundamental to all regimes and instruments for addressing climate change is the importance of measuring and accounting for greenhouse gas emissions,” Jonathan Sinclair Wilson, Managing Director of Earthscan, said, “We are delighted to be launching this new journal in partnership with the leading professional organization in the field, the Greenhouse Gas Management Institute, to provide information and analysis that will help to establish the knowledge and techniques required in a carbon constrained future.”

To be launched for 2011 the journal, published initially 4 times per year (print and online), will offer a practical way of assessing the validity of current research and communicating it in a transparent and credible manner, and in a way that responds to the questions of decision-makers. This includes experiences in implementing market-based instruments (such as the clean development mechanism and joint implementation) to achieve emission reduction objectives at the international, national, regional, local, facility, project and supply chain level.
As such, it will also contribute to a better greater engagement between UNFCCC emission inventory processes, the private sector and emission trading markets.
Dr Tinus Pulles, Senior Researcher at TNO in the Netherlands, has been appointed Editor in Chief of the journal. Dr Pulles is a member of the UNECE Task Force on Emission Inventories, and has been instrumental in coordinating the IPCC National Greenhouse Gas Inventories Programme .
