As a part of the Institute’s mission to advance the professionalization of GHG management, the Institute launched (in 2008) a consultative process to develop an ethical Code of Conduct for GHG practitioners. The resulting Code was released in March 2009 and forms a key pillar of the Institute’s professional programs.
Following the release of the Code of Conduct, the Institute has begun the establishment of its Professional Programs for the Certification of GHG Professionals and the development of additional requirements to supplement this Code through the elaboration of specific competency requirements for GHG professionals.
Other areas of work that will be undertaken in the future include:
- Definition of terms
- Definition of conflict of interest requirements
- Establishment of Code compliance monitoring and enforcement provisions and institutions
