• Why I Work at the Institute

    Stelios Pesmajoglou

    There are several reasons why anyone of us decides to work for a company or organization: because the job offered is what we always wanted to do; because of the salary and perks; because of what an organization stands for; because of the experience that we will gain; because of the people who work there; because it was the only company that would hire us; because of all of the above and a lot more…

    So far, I have been blessed to have worked (mostly by accident rather than design) with people and for organizations that not only have been pioneering in what they do, but have also been true to their dreams, goals, ambitions and above all humanity. Looking back and to the present, there are several qualities (for lack of a better word) that attracted me to various jobs, but one quality that first comes to mind is: Commitment. And although commitment can take different forms and shapes, it should be reciprocal if it is to be an asset for an organization rather than a liability.

    In relation to our Institute, working with the GHGMI team over the course of the last 18 months, I have come to respect all of my colleagues for their dedication to the mission of the organization and for their boundless support to each other despite differences and, at times, radically opposing points of view. But above all, I have become part of a very competent and hard-working team that is wholly committed to:

    • Providing the best training courses on GHG management;
    • Designing and developing new and better products and services for the international community of GHG professionals;
    • Making a difference in the global efforts to combat climate change;
    • Improving ourselves while achieving all of the above.

    I am proud to be associated with this energetic team of individuals and for what we have achieved so far. Building GHGMI took a lot of hard work, personal sacrifices and unwavering commitment on the part of everyone involved. I am looking forward to the months and years ahead and to the new and exciting things that the future will bring.

    Looking ahead, we are embarking on new initiatives that will require even more hard work, persistence and perseverance. I am confident that, with the support and commitment of my friends and colleagues, we will continue to provide the best possible service to the international society of GHG professionals and, in the process, we will do our part to make our world a little bit better than what it is today!
