Tim Stumhofer, Senior Program Associate
Tim Stumhofer is a San Francisco-based Senior Program Associate with the Greenhouse Gas Management Institute.
Tim works closely with key stakeholders, institutions, and program administrators to design GHG verification and accreditation systems and to develop and deploy specialized GHG training and capacity building programs to enhance technical competency. Tim has worked on all aspects of program development, providing project management and subject matter input across GHGMI’s curriculum, as well as on dedicated GHGMI programs for partners such as USAID, USEPA, and the UNFCCC.
An experienced policy analyst, Tim also leads GHGMI’s outreach and communications efforts. He is actively involved in a number of GHGMI initiatives, such as: editorial assistant for Greenhouse Gas Measurement & Management, an international peer-reviewed journal; the editor and lead author of GHGMI’s annual GHG & Climate Change Workforce Needs Assessment Survey; and a coordinator for the EP(GHG), the first personnel certification scheme for GHG professionals accredited to ISO standards.
Prior to joining GHGMI, Tim worked in the private sector for Climate Clean, a carbon asset advisory firm, as a carbon market analyst focused on the emerging voluntary carbon market.
Tim holds a BA in politics with economics from Willamette University and an MSc in environmental policy and regulation from the London School of Economics, where his dissertation research focused on HM Government’s Quality Assurance Scheme for Carbon Offsetting.
