Steve McDonough

Steve McDonough developed our course on “Setting up a GHG Information Management System for Organizations”.  Steve has worked in the environmental industry for the last 12 years in both the nonprofit and private sector. During the last 6 years, Steve has focused in the areas of sustainability, GHG management, environmental management systems, and environmental performance and compliance information systems.

Steve McDonough is currently at Schneider Electric. Prior to this he was the Senior Solutions Manager for IHS, a leading solution provider for GHG, sustainability and EHS information management solutions.  Steve’s role has worked extensively with clients to identify IMS requirements and present custom solutions to meet specific GHG, sustainability, and EHS needs.

Prior to IHS, Steve was Vice President of ClimateCHECK working with a wide variety of clients focusing on GHG inventories, offset projects, and offset methodology development.  Previously, Steve worked as a consultant for a leading EMIS company where he lead the development of their GHG management solution based on WRI/WBSCD GHG Protocol for Corporate Accounting and various U.S. voluntary programs. Steve also spent 3 years at Det Norske Veritas (DNV) and worked with the U.S. Director of Sustainability and Climate Change Services providing policy analysis, market research, standards interpretation, and business development support. In addition, he became accredited to be an ISO 14001 auditor and conducted environmental management system audits for numerous Fortune 500 clients.

Steve has a Master of Business Administration from the University of Massachusetts and a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Engineering from the University of Vermont.
