Webinar 1 – Market Dynamics & Risks

Guest speaker Marcus Ferdinand (Thomson Reuters) discussed how ETS participants manage risks, giving specific examples of how design and the influence of politics have affected emission trading in the past. Host Elizabeth Zelljadt (Ecologic Institute) also provided context for the course and facilitated a question-and-answer session between the guest speaker and participants.

Webinar 2 – The Past, Present & Future

This installment discussed the evolution and forecasted the future of ETSs. The guest speaker delivered a candid discussion of what it was like to build the European Union ETS and commented on the utility of ETSs in the INDCs being proposed at COP21.

Webinar 3 – Developing Countries

Featuring an expert from an emerging economy to comment on experiences in becoming ETS “market-ready,” this installment provided unique examples of capacity gaps that were overcome and others that remain a challenge.

Webinar 4 – Keeping it Legal

This webinar discussed the unique legal challenges of establishing and implementing regulatory ETSs. The guest speaker provided examples of national and international case law to illustrate legal considerations for future ETSs.
