Ash Merscher

Communications Officer

Ash Merscher is the Communications Officer at the Greenhouse Gas Management Institute. Her expertise includes nonprofit communications and development, marketing, public relations, fundraising, and advertising. At GHGMI, Ash leads the organization’s communications program, helping the Institute strengthen its brand, extend its reach, and effectively communicate its impact across digital and traditional marketing channels. She works with content creation, social media, brand management, media relations, and more, plus supports programmatic team members with project-based content development.

Ash has a long history in the world of communications. Most recently, she worked in advertising at Publicis Groupe, assisting multinational brands in creative conceptualization, CRM (customer relations management), acquisition, and digital marketing. She’s also led fundraising programs at higher education institutions, directed development departments at environmental nonprofits, and led content teams at smaller businesses and agencies. Ash took five years off her marketing career journey to teach abroad in public-school bilingual programs, receiving a Fulbright Scholarship in Central and Eastern Europe.

Ash’s passion for writing, marketing, and storytelling blends well with her passion for environmental issues. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations and Environmental Science from Colorado College and completed graduate courses in Natural Resource Management at the University of Denver. When not working, she enjoys hiking, reading, and dabbling in the arts, particularly choral singing and ceramics. Though originally from a small town outside Seattle, Ash currently lives in Philadelphia with her spouse and their cat, Zsuzsi.
