Initiative for Climate Action Transparency

IMPLEMENTING PARTNER

As an implementing partner of the Initiative for Climate Action Transparency (ICAT), the Greenhouse Gas Management Institute (GHGMI) leads a consortium that provides technical support to over 30 countries. These projects are building key components of the countries’ monitoring, reporting, and verification (MRV) systems, with the scope of work shaped through close collaboration with each country’s team to reflect national priorities.

Collaborating with local partners, our training emphasizes hands-on learning. We focus on building lasting institutional capacity so that governments retain the knowledge and skills long after a project concludes. Additionally, with funding from ICAT, GHGMI is strengthening national capacities for climate action by developing regional climate transparency hubs (ReCATH) in Central Asia and Central America.

Antigua & Barbuda

Antigua and Barbuda is enhancing its climate resilience and advancing its Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) targets by developing robust projections of greenhouse gas emissions and conducting mitigation analyses.

Chad

Chad is developing a national system to monitor and report on climate actions, aiming to enhance transparency and track progress toward its climate goals.

Eswatini

Eswatini is strengthening climate transparency by advancing renewable energy and improving adaptation in the water and health sectors.

Fiji

Fiji enacted its Climate Change Act of 2021, with support from GHGMI and ICAT, thereby strengthening its commitment to the Paris Agreement and establishing robust systems for monitoring GHG emissions in the agricultural sector.

Nigeria

Nigeria developed sectoral MRV frameworks for oil and gas, transport, agriculture, and forestry while designing a national institutional scheme for climate monitoring. The project also created policies and indicators to assess greenhouse gas mitigation and track Nigeria’s NDC implementation progress.

Saint Kitts & Nevis

Saint Kitts and Nevis is enhancing climate transparency in its energy sector with the support of GHGMI and ICAT by developing systems to track emissions and progress toward renewable energy and electric vehicle goals.

Vanuatu

Vanuatu is enhancing its greenhouse gas inventory systems across key sectors and evaluating agriculture policies to strengthen climate action and inform its NDCs.
