LCFS Verifier Accreditation Training 2026

The California Air Resources Board (CARB) will host the 2026 Low Carbon Fuel Standards (LCFS) verifier accreditation training in Pasadena, California, facilitated by the Greenhouse Gas Management Institute (GHGMI). This in-person course prepares verification bodies and individual verifiers for accreditation under the Low Carbon Fuel Standard.

Details: April 13-17th, 2026, in Pasadena, CA.

CARB is accepting applications for accreditation of LCFS verification bodies and individual verifiers. More information, including a detailed training schedule, will soon be posted on the LCFS Verification website: https://ww2.arb.ca.gov/lcfs-verification. Please note that CARB will not offer LCFS verifier accreditation training in 2027 or 2028, so plan accordingly.

Application Information for LCFS Verifier Accreditation

The training includes six courses. Candidates for lead verifier applying under section 95502(c)(3)(A)-(E) of the LCFS Regulation may opt out of Course 1 and are not required to take the general verification accreditation exam pursuant to LCFS Regulation section 95502(c)(3)(G). However, Course 1 is highly recommended as it provides valuable information about LCFS verification principles. Applicants who do not currently meet the lead verifier requirements should consider completing all six courses to be accredited as a verifier and upgrade to lead verifier once the experience requirements are met.

Verification bodies must email an application for Verification Body Accreditation to CARB and include employees’ applications for Individual Verifier Accreditation in the package. Including potential subcontractors in verification body packages helps CARB conduct efficient screening. Verification bodies may submit the templates required under section 95501(b)(1)(B) of the LCFS Regulation after completing verifier accreditation training to finalize their accreditation package. Individuals planning to provide LCFS verification services who are not affiliated with a current verification body or verification body applicant must submit individual accreditation applications to CARB via email at lcfsverify@arb.ca.gov

Please indicate in your applications whether the candidate intends to take Course 1, covering general verification and the required accreditation exam.

CARB is accepting applications for the accreditation of LCFS verification bodies and individual verifiers. Application forms are available on the LCFS Verification website (also linked below). CARB will screen individual verifier candidate applications, and approved individuals will be notified that they may enroll in the required LCFS verifier accreditation training.

LCFS Verifier Training Costs

LCFS Verifier Accreditation Training Fees:

  • $1,400.00 for courses 2 through 6 (Fast track option)
  • $1,600.00 for courses 1 through 6 (Fast track eligible applicants with a $150 discount)
  • $1,750.00 for courses 1 through 6 (Non-fast track option)

Early bird pricing: $50 off for those who complete CARB approval and register by 11:59 pm (PT) on February 23rd, 2026. Early bird pricing is automatically applied up until the deadline (no code needed).

As mentioned earlier, fast-track learners are not required to attend Course 1, but we encourage them to consider enrolling at a discounted rate ($150 off the Course 1 price). Fast-track learners can pay $1,400 for Courses 2 through 6, or attend Courses 1 through 6 for $1,600 ($150 discount compared to the cost for non-fast-track learners who are required to take all 6 courses).

Application Deadlines for 2026 Training

Applications are due to CARB for processing and approval before applicants can register for training during open enrollment. The enrollment period for 2026 training closes on March 16th, but we strongly encourage applicants to apply to CARB early to register by February 23rd to secure a course seat and receive discounted pricing. The training room has a maximum capacity of 45 learners, and we anticipate all spaces will fill up as CARB does not plan to offer LCFS verifier accreditation training in 2027 or 2028.
