The Greenhouse Gas Management Institute is delighted to welcome Hermine Mossino to our roster of distinguished alumni. Congratulations, Hermine, on receiving the 2025 GHGMI Annual Distinguished Alumni Award!

Hermine Mossino is an agroforestry and agroecology expert from the Central African Republic who graduated in 2025 from the GHGMI Diploma in GHG Measurement, Reporting, and Verification (MRV). She was part of an international project training early-career women in Central Africa and completed an intensive nine-month hybrid program that included self-paced online courses, virtual office hours, and workshops.
Building a foundation to understand the present and act for the future
Before becoming a GHGMI student, Hermine already held a degree in Life and Earth Sciences—but she recognized it was just the beginning of her learning journey. Completing the Diploma strengthened her grasp of GHG management and climate policy, taking her from foundational courses (IPCC guidelines, GHG projects) through upper-level GHG accounting (waste, AFOLU) and verification.
La formation dispensée par le GHG Management Institute a été très efficace ; elle m’a permis d’acquérir une solide compréhension de la gestion durable des ressources naturelles et d’y voir plus clair sur les facteurs, les impacts et les solutions (atténuation et adaptation) liés au changement climatique.
The training from the GHG Management Institute was highly effective; it gave me a solid understanding of sustainable natural resource management and clarified the drivers, impacts, and solutions (mitigation and adaptation) of climate change.
By the time she completed the Diploma in GHG MRV, Hermine clearly understood how GHG emissions drive global warming and how to strengthen subnational-level data, monitoring, and reporting systems to support effective climate action in the Congo Basin.
Now, as an early-career GHG expert, Hermine coordinates an association called the Organization of Rural Women for Environmental Protection and the Fight Against Global Warming (OFR-PERC). Her experience is a valuable example of how targeted investment in capacity-building can translate national ambition into community-based action.
What GHG management goals does Hermine hope to achieve in the next 10 years?
